cultural mosaic
This collection of tapestries date from the early years of my studio practice. I employed architectural forms as metaphors to indicate a human presence in a natural landscape. The environment in which the architecture exists is defined by textile references and patterns. My imagery is inspired, in part, by the kilims created by nomadic weavers in the Middle East, and by Kente Cloth woven by many cultures in western Africa.
